“Hill’s lawyers trade legal maneuvers.” This headline should have said, “More waste of taxpayer money.” Danny Lee Hill has been found guilty of the torture, rape and murder of Raymond Fife. Hill’s public defenders have filed and lost appeal after appeal after appeal. This is ridiculous. What happened to the justified use of the death penalty? If anyone deserves it, it’s Hill. Let’s go ahead and stop spending money.

The Republican Party has gone from being a group of organized, professional adults to a group of people beyond all professionalism and turned activist, and not in a good way. They behave like young people without manners. They yell at motorists, post nasty articles on social media, and Republican women seem to be the worst! If you can’t behave civilly, go away and let the adults do business. This fight is an embarrassment to conservatives. Try to act like ladies.

The Tribune Chronicle’s July 29 article about Niles teachers demanding pay raises featured a banner that read: “I teach my students to put themselves first, now it’s my turn.” Should have been titled “Niles teachers teach students to be self-centered, selfish, selfish people and demand to be paid more for doing so.” So much for the Niles teachers who teach students to be civic-minded. Fortunately they are the second lowest paid in the county and not the lowest!

In the Tribune Chronicle on July 23, reporter Guy Vogrin wrote that any light semi-automatic rifle is an AR-15-style rifle. not so Case in point: The Remington Nylon 66 was manufactured between 1959 and 1989 and is a .22 caliber semi-automatic light rifle. It is used for recreational shooting and squirrel hunting.

Bishop Bonnar has changed pastors at Mount Carmel in Niles three times in 14 months. How can parishioners build a bond with their pastor? Why is the bishop so against our parishioners? I hope that God forgives him for the pain that he is causing people. The motto, “So that all may be one”, sounds catchy, but we are all individuals and will carry on with respect to traditions etc.

So many election denying Trumpists are showing up on midterm ballots across the country. It is just a continuation of the Big Lie, the outrageous and illegal tactics and terrifying stranglehold this failed former president has on the Republican Party. Hasn’t our country suffered enough from their treacherous behavior? It is the patriotic duty of American Democrats, Independents and, yes, even “based on reality” traditional Republicans, to ensure that history does not repeat itself. Your vote counts! (Or so we hope!)

There is legislation to help veterans who served in Iraq “burn holes”. Democrats attached a $400 billion spending package for non-veteran programs. Can’t they ever pass a separate bill? This opens the doors for a massive bribe fund. I am a decorated Vietnam veteran. I just received compensation for injuries while serving for my country 50 years ago for Agent Orange and a knee injury in a combat zone. Why don’t they give that bribe fund to eligible veterans instead of 50 year delays?

How disappointing that Republican senators first voted against and then reluctantly voted for veterans health benefits. These are benefits to treat veterans who became ill after exposure to toxic combustion pits used in military service. Our soldiers promise to protect this country and the government promises to protect them. It is shameful that the Republican Party has resisted keeping our end of the bargain. We have a strong volunteer army, and the Republicans’ delay affects soldiers awaiting cancer treatment and everyone’s morale.

All the Democrats I talk to constantly use the words “Triumph” Y “insurrection.” Fentanyl, criminals, terrorists who cross the open southern border bring a “But Trump…” That is your destiny! The Biden administration does not care about legal, hard-working citizens. We are an afterthought. Zero accountability, common sense, and talent in the Biden administration have weakened this country and emboldened our enemies. Vote Republican exclusively. I hope it is not too late for our nation to lead the free world. What is that I hear? Other “But Trump…”
