The Firminator RT provides another option for circumstances where tillage may be preferable to disc.

The Firminator RT retains the great features and versatility of Ranew’s full-size 3-point attachment, but replaces the disc pack with a heavy-duty PTO tiller when conditions call for a different ground breaker.

An example of the Firminator RT’s versatility is when a deep cut into the soil for top seeding is neither needed nor desired. Simply scrape the surface, spread the seed and roll it up with the cultipacker, all in one pass. This will allow hardier plants like clover that are already in the plot to persist while new plants sprout and grow. This method also helps conserve soil moisture during dry conditions.

Tillage may also be preferable where there is a thick topsoil of straw and weeds, but only shallow mowing is required. The tiller tines will better break up small clumps of unwanted top-growing plants, reducing chances of regeneration and providing more surface area for herbicide application.

Perhaps a plot is scoured and planted in the spring and is now ready for a late summer planting. Load the hopper with seed, then fill the top with Firminator RT and the job is done. The tiller may also be a better choice when soils are dry on the surface but too wet to plow underneath.

The list goes on and every situation is different, but the examples above offer ideas. The Firminator RT provides an alternative when tillage is preferable to disc and may offer the only solution when disc is not possible or practical.
