As deer hunting season officially kicks off in Michigan this weekend, many will head out into the field, shoot with their gun or bow, but then have to find the deer they KNOW they hit. That’s where Michigan deer trackers come in.
Michigan Deer Trackers for 2022
The Michigan Deer Tracking Association maintains a list of trackers for the entire state. These trackers and their dogs help hunters find lost deer after they have been injured.

When should I call a tracker when I hit a deer?
According to the MDTA, you can call as soon as you take the shot:
You can call as soon as you make the shot! If you think your injection was marginal, please call or text us before you draw blood. We can give you tips and directions that will increase your chances of finding your deer, or recommend that you get a dog to help you.

How do I find a deer tracker in Michigan?
The MDTA maintains an up-to-date list arranged by Michigan counties. They also make ‘in-training’ trackers available that can also help you find your deer. These trackers don’t get paid while they train themselves and their dogs, but they do accept tips.
