Federal ammunition shooter Derrick Mein takes ISSF gold and qualifies for the Olympics

Federal Ammunition-sponsored shooter Derrick Mein took home trap shooting gold at the 2022 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championships in Osijek, Croatia. Mein’s performance was historic as he became the first US male shooter to win a world trap title since 1966. With the win, Mein has now qualified the US for a spot in the Games. 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.

During the 2022 ISSF, World Championships Mein broke 122 of 125 targets in qualification. Mein qualified for the medal match after winning a playoff against Qatar’s Rashi Al-Athba securing Mein’s Olympic qualification. In the medal event, Mein outshot Great Britain’s Nathan Hales hitting 33 of 34 targets.

The ISSF victory continues a successful summer of shooting events for Mein. Capturing a bronze medal at the ISSF World Cup in Peru, Mein’s shooting streak continued as he was ranked No. 1 after the ISSF World Cup in Azerbaijan.

“For me, this win is a huge accomplishment and for Team USA, it gives us a spot to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
