Burchard Lake Road Improvement Project to Begin Oct. 17

A road repair project in the Lake Burchard Wildlife Management Area in Pawnee County is scheduled to begin Oct. 17. Access to roads, campground, and boat ramp may be temporarily closed.

The north camp will be closed during this project, but the south camp will be accessible.

Users should be aware that asphalt may be seated on some of the WMA roadways and should be aware of construction traffic during this project.

This project, which should last approximately 20 days, consists of improvements to the WMA Inland Road, the WMA Camp Road, and a portion of 615 Avenue from Highway 4 to the WMA.

Lake Burchard is closed to all access annually from October 15 to January 14, except for walk-in bank fishing access along the perimeter of the lake during open water and ice fishing when available. safe ice.

Access to the area below the dam remains open during this time period.

Camping is only allowed in designated areas. The area is closed to all firearms and all hunting. The north camp and inner road closures will be made by posting temporary signs and barricades so road improvements can be completed.
