CMP cancels Maryland Junior Rifle Camps, adds several new ones in their place

Due to issues with the venue, two of the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Junior Rifle Camps planned for Annapolis, Maryland, in July were cancelled. Camps were scheduled for July 18-20 (Advanced Foot Camp) and July 24-27 (3P Camp).

To complement the retired camps, the CMP has acquired a new location during the same dates, the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., where a three-position (3P) and Advanced Position camp will be held. There will be a total of 18 places available for each camp. In addition, the CMP has included an additional 3P aircamp from May 30 to June 2 at the Judy Legerski CMP Competition Center in Anniston, Alabama.

Those who have already paid and registered for the Maryland camp will receive a full refund, unless they wish to attend the supplemental camp in Lexington, Va. Since the new venue offers fewer shooting spots than the Maryland location, registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. first serve basis.

Questions about date changes can be directed to CMP Camp Director Ryan Hinson at [email protected]. If you would like to change your registration to one of the new camps, please contact CMP’s Alana Kelly at [email protected].

About CMP Junior Rifle Camps:

Each year, the CMP hosts a series of hands-on and informative Junior Rifle Camps for high school-age students and coaches during the summer months. Camp participants receive valuable lessons in intermediate and advanced marksmanship skills through various exercises and demonstrations, all led by current collegiate rifle athletes.

Junior Rifle Camps are designed to train rifle fundamentals and techniques through group discussions and personal guidance from college mentors on the firing line. The program also includes small-bore boot camps for even more opportunities to learn at the range. Camps are excellent tools for developing each athlete’s strengths within the physical and mental aspects of the sport, while refining problem areas that may need further attention.

Find a list of dates and more detailed information about the camps, including registration information, on the CMP website at https://thecmp.org/youth/junior-air-rifle-camps-and-clinics/.
