An unforgettable end to a successful fundraising campaign!

-PACT PRESENTS CHECK FOR $7,200 FOR TUNNEL TO FUNDACIÓN TOWERS-

Summer is often a time when businesses slow down or go on hiatus. Not so with manufacturer of corrugated moving containers Packaging And Crating Technologies, LLC (PACT), which created a grassroots fundraising opportunity for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T) that ran from the Day of the Fallen until the 4th ofhe July based on sales of its popular LiftVan product line, the most in-demand shipping and moving box used by the military. On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, the Watertown-based company presented a check for $7,200 to the national charity that directly benefits US military veterans and first responders, especially those involved in the 9/11 tragedy in New York, at the company headquarters.

“Summer is prime season for movement within all branches of the military, so we anticipate a positive outcome, but we are thrilled that our small family business was able to raise thousands of dollars for a great cause that helps our war wounded. heroes who continue to fight long after their service on the front lines and in the line of their daily duty,” said Rodger Mort, PACT’s director of operations.

The T2T Foundation provides mortgage-free housing for America’s catastrophically injured veterans and first responders, Gold Star, and families of fallen first responders.

One of those families is the reason the Tunnel to Towers Foundation was founded. Firefighter Stephen Siller, who was assigned to Brooklyn Squad 1, had just finished his shift when he learned from his scanner of a plane crashing into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. He drove his truck to the entrance to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, but it had already been closed for security reasons. Determined to do his duty, he tied up 60 lbs. of equipment on his back, and ran on foot through the tunnel to the Twin Towers, where he gave up his life while saving others. Siller had everything to live for; a great wife, five wonderful children, a dedicated extended family and friends.

To date, the Foundation has provided more than 1,000 mortgage-free homes for these American heroes and the families they leave behind. More than 500,000 participants have supported the organization’s more than 80 national walking, running and climbing fundraising campaigns.

“We are very appreciative of the effort put in by our neighbor to the north – PACT,” said Cahill Zoeller, T2T Senior Development Manager. “In an incredibly real way, every dollar donated helps ease a huge financial burden on our many beneficiary families.”

In addition to a crowd of PACT employees, the check donation ceremony was attended by four members of the Watertown Police Department, including its K-9 unit.

“We have strong ties to the military, both professionally and personally, and it is our privilege to give back to the heroes and their families who have given so much to our country,” concludes Mort. “We look forward to orchestrating another successful fundraiser for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation next year!”
