For 2023, Benelli takes the 828U series to the next technological level with the introduction of the new 828U Steel model in 12 and 20 gauge.

The 828U series made its mark on the shotgun scene due in large part to its innovative and patented steel lock plate. The steel lock plate locks into the rear of the barrel to contain cartridge pressure and prevent its transfer to the receiver, eliminating receiver and hinge wear and tear that traditional O/U rigs often suffer from. This has helped make the 828U series the preferred choice for O/U fans.

Now, Benelli introduces a new model to the 828U line with the 828U Steel. The 828U steel is made with a steel receiver instead of aluminum. This adds a slight amount of weight to the weapon to help mitigate recoil when using heavier loads and offers a subtle balance shift for smoother swings, even on fast cross shots.

Another standout feature of the new 828U Steel is the addition of the Benelli (BE.ST) surface treatment to the barrels, receiver, and lock plate. This is a proprietary coating that offers superior resistance to corrosion and abrasion, making the shotgun virtually impervious to the harshest environments. In short, the 828U, with its exquisite AA-grade satin walnut stock and fore-end, satin-finished receiver, and polished barrels, may seem like a prized mantle piece, but this pistol is built to withstand harsh field use for years to come.

As with all Benelli 828U shotguns, the 828U Steel includes the company’s announced Progressive Comfort System. Contained within the walnut stock, this system uses three-stage recoil dampers that activate under progressively stronger recoil to provide comfortable recoil mitigation to match loads from light to magnum cartridges. Additional features include impulse-activated ejectors for a stronger, simpler ejector system, removable trigger group for easy cleaning, and 40-point drop and launch adjustment for a custom fit.

It has a removable hook and loop magazine module that can be used in plate carriers. The accessory pocket and MOLLE side flaps are also removable.

The TT Small Combi Rig features adjustable flat padded straps and removable laser cut MOLLE side wings suitable for magazines or pouches. The back is covered with velcro, making it compatible with use as a front flap for license plate holders.
