The NRA’s Shooting Illustrated Magazine Received Federal’s New 30 Super Carry Cartridge as a 2023 Golden Bullseye Award Winner

The National Rifle Association (NRA) illustrated shot The magazine selected Federal’s new 30 Super Carry cartridge to receive its Golden Bullseye Award for Ammunition Product of the Year 2023. Federal received the award during a special reception on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the NRA Annual Meetings & Expositions in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“This new cartridge is certainly gaining popularity among the masses. We could not be more excited about the launch of our new product and the extremely positive recognition it has received from NRA publications and many others,” said Nick Sachse, Director of Firearms Product Management for Federal Ammunition. “We are pleased that the editors of NRA Shooting Illustrated have found that our new cartridge exceeded their testing expectations for function, reliability, design innovation, and is a true value for the firearm owner.”

Now in its twenty-first year, NRA Publications’ Golden Bullseye Awards recognize the best products available in shooting sports. Winners are selected by a seven-member committee comprised of editors, graphic designers, and veteran NRA Publications staff, who represent more than a century of collective experience in the shooting and hunting industry.

“The 30 Super Carry cartridge is a really innovative new product in a very mature and crowded space, which is certainly not easy to do, so it deserves all the praise,” continued Sachse. “We are extremely proud of this award and thank NRA publications for the great recognition.”

Federal’s 30 Super Carry cartridge carries like a 380 Auto and hits like a 9mm, meaning shooters can increase capacity without sacrificing performance. Federal Ammunition has 100 years of ammunition production experience and is the ideal company to develop a better concealed carry cartridge for the next generation of self defense pistols, and that is exactly what the company has achieved with this introduction. JAKES Day Award Winner, Mentored Hunt Turns 24

The Monocacy Valley Chapter of the Maryland NWTF is known to be an R3 (recruit, retain, revive) powerhouse, hosting an annual enrichment event for local youth.

It’s not uncommon for the local NWTF Monocacy Valley chapter to see over 100 youth attend their annual JAKES Day, and for the event’s 24th year, it was no different, with 108 kids arriving from all over the state for a outdoor learning day, conservation and drawing for the opportunity to participate in a guided spring turkey hunt.

The day began with a morning of trout fishing in a pond stocked for the event. At lunch, all the youngsters received a turkey call. And after everyone had filled up on burgers and hot dogs and whooped their turkey calls for a while, the youngsters broke up into smaller groups and rotated through five stations: Woods Hike, Shotgun Pattern, Archery. , bird dog demonstrations and turkey call.

Monocacy Valley’s JAKES Day bridges the gap between learning about the outdoors and getting out in the field.

“These stations are designed to teach wood skills, turkey hunting strategies, conservation and the importance of knowing your equipment and taking ethical shots,” said Russ Leith, president of the NWTF’s Monocacy Valley chapter. “We really strive to bridge the gap to turn these kids into lifelong hunters and conservationists. That is why we are following this event with the opportunity to hunt.

After a day filled with smiles and learning, chapter volunteers held a raffle to see who would have the chance to participate in the chapter-led turkey hunt, held recently on Maryland Youth Day.

“We took 30 kids hunting this year, 16 of them newbies,” Leith said. “Twelve birds caught, seven of which were fledgling turkeys!”

The chapter and its mentors are known for building relationships with the family of trainees through their JAKES Day event, which has led to chapter mentors taking not just the kids, but the entire family deer and bird hunting. aquatic.

“There’s a reason we’ve been doing this event for so long; it does what it’s designed to do, create hunters for life,” said Lee Jernigan, vice president of the Monocacy Valley chapter. “We look forward to this event every year, and there are no plans to slow it down.”

The local Monocacy Valley Chapter has received national recognition for its JAKES Day event over the years, including receiving its third R3 Award this year at the 2023 NWTF National Convention & Sports Expo.

Established in 1981, NWTF’s JAKES program is dedicated to informing, educating, and engaging youth ages 17 and younger in wildlife conservation and the wise stewardship of our natural resources. JAKES events help pass on the traditions of responsible hunting, teach principles of habitat management, hunting ethics and safety.

For $10 a yearJAKES receive a one year subscription to JAKES Country magazine (four issues), a chance to win the hunt of a lifetime, and a membership card.

In addition to JAKES Day events, NWTF chapters across the country host various events that engage youth in the great outdoors, including guided hunts for a variety of game species.

Schuerch returns to the podium in the second TTG competition

blackhawk®, a leader in law enforcement and military equipment for more than 20 years, congratulates tactical athlete Ehea Schuerch on her third-place finish in the Women’s Elite division at The Tactical Games Texas regional event. Schuerch’s most recent win marks back-to-back podium finishes for the new Blackhawk athlete to kick off the 2023 Tactical Games season.

Schuerch got going with Team Blackhawk this year winning his first match at The Tactical Games Mississippi regional event in February. Competing once again in the Women’s Elite Division, Schuerch used her Blackhawk T-Series® L2D holster, Blackhawk Foundation Series plate carrier, MOLLE belt, and Blackhawk Multi-Point rifle sling to secure third place against a tough field of competitors.

“The competition was fierce at the Texas event and I had a lot of fun fighting to the finish with this group of tough women,” said Schuerch. “I focused my efforts on the things I could control and fought hard on day two to come back and earn a podium spot. My lightweight, low-profile Foundation Series gear allowed me to move faster, and as always, my T-Series holster worked great on some challenging courses.”

A Spokane, Washington native, Schuerch began competing in The Tactical Games in 2022, where she quickly became one of the games fiercest competitors. Last year at the National Championships in Florence, Texas, Schuerch placed second among a field of 15 elite competitors.

Schuerch’s next competition will be at the Washington, UT, regional event in May.
