THE MIDWAYUSA FOUNDATION AWARDS MORE THAN $4.6 MILLION FOR YOUTH SHOOTING PROGRAMS

Columbia, MO – The MidwayUSA Foundation is proud to announce the payment of more than $4.6 million in cash grants to more than 950 youth shooting programs, including youth shooting teams and organizations. Since the MidwayUSA Foundation’s inception, cash grants paid to support youth shooting programs total more than $55 million. This latest grant cycle paid an average of $4,246 per youth shooting team. Many youth shooting teams rely on these funds to pay for ammunition, targets, registration fees, travel, safety equipment, and more.

“Thanks to our MidwayUSA Foundation grant, our kids can still afford to shoot even after the impact of inflation on projectiles and targets,” said youth shooting team coach Rob Kinsella of Centerburg, Ohio. In addition to assistance with equipment expenses, the Centerburg Shooting Team has been able to add sporting clays and a SASP pistol kit as additional options for their athletes. These incorporations are possible thanks to the financial stability offered by its endowment. Centerburg’s fundraising efforts and the MidwayUSA Foundation’s matching program have increased its youth shooting team’s endowment to more than $550,000, providing an annual grant of nearly $28,000.

There are approximately 2,800 youth shooting teams and nearly 80 youth shooting sports organizations endowed by the MidwayUSA Foundation, and each program is eligible to receive a 5% cash grant each year. To augment that annual cash grant, the Foundation offers several resources to help raise funds and grow the endowment. Each endowment can receive tax-deductible donations through the MidwayUSA Foundation website and donations are matched to youth shooting teams. In addition, generous sponsors provide free product grants to use for community fundraising events. Revenues collected from these products are also matched.

The MidwayUSA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that works to maintain and grow youth shooting sports by providing long-term funding to youth shooting teams. Every donation made is tax deductible and allows the Foundation to help expand and enhance the leadership skills, confidence and discipline of today’s youth through shooting sports activities. The Foundation supports all shooting disciplines. MidwayUSA Foundation auctions and some incentives are not valid in California. Federally Recognized as Southwick Report’s Most Frequently Purchased Brand of Shotshell Ammunition

Federal Ammunition leads the most frequently purchased shotgun ammunition category according to Southwick Associates’ “2022 Hunting and Shooting Participation and Equipment Purchase Tracking Consumer Study.” Southwick’s annual survey compiled feedback from more than 9,000 recreational hunters and shooters.

“The fact that Federal cartridge ammunition leads the category for most shotgun ammunition purchased is a testament to the demanding work that everyone at Federal puts into creating these products,” said Dan Compton, Director of Product for Federal Shotshell Ammunition. “This year’s survey showed that the highest percentage of all shot ammunition purchased was federal. This is truly a team effort, and our company could not be more proud.”

Federal has expanded its cartridge line in recent years, adding a line of competition targets in High Over All, along with lower caliber extensions for Top Gun, Black Cloud, and a new Bismuth offering with HEVI-Bismuth. The new HEVI-Bismuth shot is 22% denser than steel, providing more lethal energy at low range. Released from the FLITECONTROL FLEX wad, the bismuth pellets have a uniform pattern and their metallic properties make them safe in both modern and vintage shotguns.

“We want Federal Ammunition to continue to be a company that meets all of your shotgun ammunition needs,” Compton said. “For those who enjoy cold mornings at the range, clay and home defense, the quality and reliable performance of Federal Ammunition is there to meet those needs. With Federal’s wide range of product options, hunters and shotgun shooters can easily find a product that fits their needs.”

Southwick’s detailed resources illustrate purchasing behaviors such as where consumers shop, brand preferences, and amount spent. Learn more at www.southwickassociates.com.

Jordan Wiggins Tops 230-Boat Fieldon Smith Lake

Victory places St. Croix pro third in MLF Toyota Series AOY points race

St. Croix pro Jordan Wiggins caught 44-14 in his home waters of Lewis Smith Lake to win the Toyota Series Presented by Phoenix Boats Central Division event in northern Alabama by over four pounds a week pass. He caught almost all of his bass on a homemade jig head toss.

Wiggins fished to stage spotted bass in deeper water during the first day of competition, catching a third-place bag that weighed 15-14. He followed the shallows the morning of day 2, going to work on the rocky platform with access to deep water where the bass were actually spawning. “The fish were creeping up as the tournament went on, so I just adapted to them,” says Wiggins, who selected darker-colored shoals that had a combination of rocks and piers, a pattern that would hold for the last few years. two days. Wiggins added 14-8 on Day 2 and another 14-8 on Day 3 to clinch the win, earning more than $90,000 in cash and contingencies while qualifying for the 2023 MLF Toyota Series Championship, scheduled for 2 to November 4 at Table Rock Lake in Branson. , Missouri.

“My brother (MLF Bass Pro Tour angler Jesse Wiggins) and I make our own shaking head jigs,” Wiggins says. “We just tweaked a few things so they can better fish around deck and rocks.” Wiggins was bowing his homemade heads with a pumpkin-green 6.5-inch Reaction Innovations Flirt Worm.

“I always throw my shaking heads at my medium-heavy power, extra fast action 7’1” St. Croix Legend Elite (EC71MHXF) rod,” says Wiggins. “It’s so light, well balanced and easy to fish all day, with the extreme sensitivity that is necessary to blind fish for spawning bass.”

Wiggins says his medium-heavy, fast St. Croix Bass X 7’1” (BAC71MHF) and Legend Tournament Bass 7’2” heavy, moderate (LBTC72HM) have also contributed to his success so far this season. “I like fishing wake baits on that Bass X MHF,” he says. “It’s light and responsive, and the SCII carbon makes it a little softer than the same rods in the other St. Croix series, so it’s a little more forgiving.” Regarding the Legend Tournament Bass LBTC72HM, “It’s definitely my new favorite chatter bait rod,” says Wiggins. “What St. Croix has been able to achieve with their iACT technology, basically a hybrid of carbon and glass, is incredible. It has that smooth, parabolic key action you need with plenty of hook setting power, but it’s the sensitivity and thin, light balance in the hand that makes this rod unlike any reaction bait rod you’ve ever fished. I put up 20lbs in Guntersville with this rod and I love casting it.”

After two events in the MLF Toyota Series Central Division, Wiggins sits in 3rd place in the AOY race with 470 points. The final event of the 2023 Central Division is scheduled for Tennessee’s Lake Chickamauga, April 25-27.

“I like the Chickamauga setup,” says Wiggins. “My co-angler fishes there a lot, and he tells me that big fish are big baits, so I guess I’ll have to go out and buy some big swim baits and slide baits… but you never really know. I expect them to play pretty well by then, so I’ll probably throw a crazy worm on my medium 7’” Legend Xtreme.

Wiggins says he owes everything to his family and major sponsors when it comes to supporting him on tour. “My wife, Whitney, puts up with me fishing week after week. My children and my brother, Jesse, are always very supportive as well. I also have St. Croix rods to thank. They have repeatedly helped me and have always treated me like family.”
