Alabama Shepherd and Hunter presents the third in a new series of children’s hunting books

Part of the Hunt Club children’s book series, “Talking Turkey: A First Turkey Story” takes children on a wholesome yet exciting adventure in the turkey forest.

After receiving rave reviews for his first two books, “Birthday Buck” and “Hide and Seek,” Alabama author, pastor, and avid outdoorsman Dr. Jimmy Tidmore is releasing the third book in his series of Hunt Club Kids books.

“Talking Turkey” is the story of a boy named Mason, who is experienced as a deer hunter beyond his years and is ready for a new challenge. He decides to head into the woods in search of wild turkeys. After seeing his father quickly take down a devourer on opening morning, Mason assumes it will be easy for him too. But a battle-tested gobbler named Mo teaches him otherwise. Ultimately, it takes an unexpected turn of events, and a little help from an old friend, for Mason and his dad to lure Mo to the shooting range.

Like the previous two books in the series, this book offers the thrill of adventure while teaching children some valuable life lessons.

“Talking Turkey” is another wholesome, family-friendly, yet exciting adventure with several unexpected twists. It will keep kids excitedly turning the pages, eager to find out what’s next, while teaching them timeless lessons about life, family, and friendship.

Tidmore is a husband, father, and pastor serving a small church in Huntsville, Alabama. He and his son, Jet, enjoy a variety of outdoor adventures together that serve as the foundation and inspiration for The Hunt Club Kids Series.

“Once I decided to make ‘Buck’s Birthday’ the first in a series of books, I always knew there would be one about turkey hunting. Then, when I felt ready to start working on the third installment, spring was in the air, so it seemed like the right time. I think the 50th anniversary of the NWTF had something to do with it as well,” says Tidmore.

“Like the other books in the series, ‘Talking Turkey’ is full of life lessons. But this one is really aimed at helping children (and adults) to recognize and be grateful for the blessings they have in life and to understand that there is a plan and a Planner.

“I continue to be surprised by the way the books are received,” says Tidmore. “The stories I hear over and over again about children developing a love of reading from these books make me happy. Hearing about kids begging their parents for just ‘one more chapter’ blows my mind and encourages me to write more.”

He says the next book in the series will be about archery and bow hunting and will likely feature Parker, another from The Hunt Club Kids we already know and love, as the main character.

Bushnell® and RCBS® Pro Robert Brantley Takes Tactical Lead at K&M Kahles PRS 2023 Match

bushnell®an industry leader in performance optics, in conjunction with RCBS®the leading manufacturer of ammunition reloading equipment for rifles and pistols, congratulates professional shooter Robert Brantley on taking first place in the Tactical Division at the 2023 K&M Kahles Sniper Rifle Competition. Brantley, who used an Elite Tactical XRS3 scope to secure victory, he has now won Top Tactical at back-to-back PRS events.

“This year’s match was incredibly tough, with a lot of relentless targeting with any scope that doesn’t track or hold zero,” Brantley said. “However, with the Elite Tactical XRS3 these things weren’t an issue and the G4P reticle allowed me to easily lock onto smaller targets. The motion holds on the G4P also lined up perfectly, making the three stages with moving targets a light job.”

Brantley, who opted to use a new competition kit chambered for .308, mounted the rifle with a new telescopic sight three weeks before the game. Despite not having used either the rifle or the scope in competition, his confidence remained high.

“I enjoy shooting the .308 as it doesn’t mask any of your flaws and forces you to stay at it,” Brantley said. “You have to hit your wind calls, manage recoil and account for the drop of the heaviest load. When shooting Tac, my goal is to always try to finish in the top ten of the Open winner. Having a quality team that you can trust makes this a possibility.”

Brantley also relied on his RCBS reload setup to get ready for the match, including his Rock Chucker.® Supreme Press, MatchMaster Dies, Bench Primer, Case Prep Center, Chargemaster Supreme Powder Dispenser, and Ultrasonic Case Cleaner.

“My RCBS reload setup is great because it helps me tailor my ammo to my exact needs,” Brantley said. “I have more control over every detail, so I can trust my ammunition to be consistent and accurate.”

Multi-species micro baits combine toughness with next-level action

Z-Man® strengthens its ingenious Micro Finesse™ system with a trio of new products

When was the last time you caught 50, 100 or more fish, all on a single panfish-sized soft bait?

Chances are, if you’ve ventured into casting Z-Man’s lovely Micro Finesse™ baits, you’ve set your sights on similar rewards from the start; that a single Shad FryZ™, Tiny TicklerZ™ or Micro TRD™ fools hatcheries full of Crappie, Perch, Sunfish, Trout, even Bass, all without sustaining injury or sacrificing their energetic little ElaZtech® tails.

You learned that bait smoothness, action, and durability are far from standalone talents; that Micro Finesse baits get their underwater power and ever-vibrating action from the material itself: softer, livelier and somehow tougher than any panfish-sized bait I’ve ever caught.

You may have also discovered that the natural buoyancy of Micro Finesse baits results in a slower sink; has allowed you to tie heavier sinker heads for longer casts while retaining that seductively leisurely drop speed. This same buoyancy makes ElaZtech baits float naturally, horizontally at rest. On the bottom, Micro Finesse soft lures pull up and tails flail with ease at any fish in the neighborhood.almost as if the baits they fish themselves.

This year, to further reward his expanding multi-species fanbase and to satisfy new angling niches every day, Z-Man has upgraded his ingenious Micro Finesse system with a trifecta of specialty baits and jig heads:

2” baby basketball™ – Just the right size and shape to match baby tarpon and other natural crappie/panfish forage, the Baby BallerZ is powered by a hydrodynamic pyramid tail section that responds to the slightest movement of the rod. Its “wrecking ball” tail swings, bumps and undulates on the drop, or creates a subtle swimming action on slow, straight retrieves. The versatile profile is perfect for flipping, dipping, casting, or shooting boat docks. By displacing more water and emitting additional air bubbles, the Baby BallerZ paints a vivid picture on live sonar displays.

Enhancing its naturally soft ElaZtech texture, Baby BallerZ’s fine, ribbed body increases bite retention. ’10X Tough’ construction produces unmatched durability with malleability and buoyancy in abundance. Designed to pair perfectly with Micro Shad HeadZ Jig Heads. Ten vibrant colors match clean and dirty water, including powerful glow-in-the-dark patterns. MSRP $4.99 for 8-pack.

New Z-Man Micro Finesse 2″ Baby BallerZ.

1.75” Micro GOAT™ – A wonderfully versatile panfish catching profile, the Micro GOAT has thin, flat double legs finished with water-catching curved paddle tails that pulsate and swim tirelessly at any retrieve speed, even during the drop. The ribbed body of the Micro GOAT amplifies water displacement and air bubble emissions for excess vibration and visual appeal.

The micro creature’s extra soft ElaZtech texture promotes effortless swimming and pounding action. While this same 10X Tough material resists tail bites from smaller pesky fish. The natural buoyancy of the material also allows the Micro GOAT to float in a realistic horizontal posture, especially effective under a coil. (TIP: Add a Crappie Minnow to show the fish a mouth-watering three-headed monster.)

A top bait for casting, drifting and trolling, the Micro GOAT can be rigged flat (think micro crawfish) or vertically, for faster swim lure-style retrieves: scissor kicks with twin legs and attraction of boats filled with crappie, perch, trout and other panfish. Compatible with Micro Finesse ShroomZ™ or Micro Shad HeadZ™ jig heads. Ten vibrant colors include powerful glow-in-the-dark patterns. MSRP $4.99 for 8-pack.

New Z-Man 1.75″ Micro GOAT.

Micro ShadZ Head™ – Featuring a hydrocontoured minnow-shaped jig head, the Micro Shad HeadZ is made to match Z-Man Micro Finesse baits. Rigged with a lightweight wire needle point black nickel hook, the Micro Shad HeadZ sets firmly on ElaZtech soft plastics, thanks to a hybrid molded split grip and wire tow clip. 3D spherical eyes add to the visual appeal. Offered in 1/32-(#6), 1/16-(#4), 1/8-(#4), and 3/16-ounce (#2) sizes in colors Splinter-Resistant Brilliant Pink, Brilliant White, Black and Chartreuse.

New Z-Man Micro Shad HeadZ.

Even if you’ve spent your entire life casting conventional soft plastics, you can’t fully prepare yourself for the delicious perks of Micro Finesse, or its seemingly alien soft bait formula that extends reality to fish-catching extremes.

Experience the full spectrum of Z-Man Micro Finesse baits, including Micro TRD™, Tiny TicklerZ™, StingerZ™, Shad FryZ™, LarvaZ™, and the new Baby BallerZ, Micro GOAT, and Micro Shad HeadZ at the On the Water event of ICAST, on Tuesday, July 11. Or visit us at ICAST Booth #4808 to take a look at this category defining series of soft, durable, ever-alive panfish baits. The new Z-Man Micro Finesse baits and jigheads will be available from October. Pioneering the development and formulation of ElaZtech, Z-Man offers the only next-generation superplastics designed, perfected, and manufactured in the USA.

About Z-Man Fishing Products: A dynamic company based in Charleston, South Carolina, Z-Man Fishing Products has been fusing cutting-edge fishing tackle with technology for nearly three decades. Z-Man has long been one of the industry’s largest suppliers of silicone skirt material used in jigs, spinnerbaits, and other lures.
