SAF PRESENTS AMICUS REPORT SUPPORTING CHALLENGE OF HAWAII GUN LAW

BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation has filed a 29-page form friend brief supporting a motion for a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction in a challenge to Hawaii’s restrictive concealed carry law, in a case known as Wolford vs. Lopez.

The brief was filed in the US District Court for the District of Hawaii.

As explained in the court document, Hawaii “has followed New York, New Jersey, and Maryland in taking deliberate steps to undermine the Supreme Court’s landmark Bruen ruling and the fundamental general right to bear an effective self-defense mechanism it affirmed. Hawaii’s SB 1230 and similar laws specifically and unfairly target those who have taken their rights more seriously by attempting to exercise them, including by submitting to Defendants’ background checks and training requirements.”

Following the 2022 Supreme Court ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, Hawaii passed SB 1230, a sweeping law designed to severely limit where law-abiding, licensed citizens can legally carry firearms for personal protection. So restrictive in nature, the new legislation was colloquially referred to as the “Bruen Response Bill”.

“As we stated in our report,” said SAF Founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, “Hawaii’s new law is written to make citizens fearful of exercising their constitutional right to bear arms, to the point of that they are even afraid to enter a coffee shop without first being invited. We cannot have law abiding citizens who are afraid to exercise a right for fear of being prosecuted and turned into criminals. That’s not how the constitution works, and specifically, that’s why the Second Amendment includes the phrase ‘shall not be infringed’. SB 1230 is a serious violation.”

“There are no historical analogues to support the extreme nature of Hawaii’s gun law,” added SAF Executive Director Adam Kraut. “On the contrary, as we explained to the court, history shows that lawmakers respected Second Amendment rights as part of everyday life, to the point of encouraging people to bring their guns to public gatherings and even to church. Hawaii, on the other hand, is trying to make it a crime to have a gun outside your home or private vehicle.”

The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nation’s oldest and largest tax-exempt legal action, research, publishing, and education group focusing on the constitutional right and inheritance to own and own guns. fire privately. Founded in 1974, the Foundation has grown to more than 720,000 members and supporters and runs many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control.

On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, the Watertown-based company presented a check for $7,200 to the national charity that directly benefits US military veterans and first responders, especially those involved in the 9/11 tragedy in New York, at the company headquarters.

“Summer is prime season for movement within all branches of the military, so we anticipate a positive outcome, but we are thrilled that our small family business was able to raise thousands of dollars for a great cause that helps our war wounded. heroes who continue to fight long after their service on the front lines and in the line of their daily duty,” said Rodger Mort, PACT’s director of operations.

The T2T Foundation provides mortgage-free housing for America’s catastrophically injured veterans and first responders, Gold Star, and families of fallen first responders.

One of those families is the reason the Tunnel to Towers Foundation was founded. Firefighter Stephen Siller, who was assigned to Brooklyn Squad 1, had just finished his shift when he learned from his scanner of a plane crashing into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. He drove his truck to the entrance to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, but it had already been closed for security reasons. Determined to do his duty, he tied up 60 lbs. of equipment on his back, and ran on foot through the tunnel to the Twin Towers, where he gave up his life while saving others. Siller had everything to live for; a great wife, five wonderful children, a dedicated extended family and friends.

To date, the Foundation has provided more than 1,000 mortgage-free homes for these American heroes and the families they leave behind. More than 500,000 participants have supported the organization’s more than 80 national walking, running and climbing fundraising campaigns.

“We are very appreciative of the effort put in by our neighbor to the north – PACT,” said Cahill Zoeller, T2T Senior Development Manager. “In an incredibly real way, every dollar donated helps ease a huge financial burden on our many beneficiary families.”

In addition to a crowd of PACT employees, the check donation ceremony was attended by four members of the Watertown Police Department, including its K-9 unit.

“We have strong ties to the military, both professionally and personally, and it is our privilege to give back to the heroes and their families who have given so much to our country,” concludes Mort. “We look forward to orchestrating another successful fundraiser for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation next year!”

PACT adheres to an efficient and green manufacturing process by specializing in low inventory volumes based on market demand and fast turnaround times with its green ready-to-use and custom packaging solutions. Chêne Gear launches new collection for Every Flyway; Give away DU membership with every wader sold

Chêne Gear, a leading manufacturer of technical waterfowl clothing, is launching a new collection of clothing that will serve a broader range of waterfowl hunters, including its new Hydro-Lok Field Dungarees, Flyweigh Primaloft Jacket, and two new colors of its flagship wader. To celebrate his two-year anniversary, Chêne gives back to his clients and supports waterfowl conservation by providing a free Ducks Unlimited membership to the purchaser of each wader for the remainder of the year.

“After coming to market two years ago with our wader, we have selectively assembled a comprehensive collection of waterfowl hunting essentials that are built better. We can now better serve hunters on all flyways, whether you need protection in frigid temperatures, goose hunting in the fields, or just want comfortable performance clothing that won’t fall apart,” said Jeff Jones, co-founder and director of Chêne Gear operations. “Like all of our other technical hunting products, we have spent the last two years testing and improving these products to ensure they meet Chêne standards for performance and durability.”

As part of her commitment to conservation, Chêne’s gift of Ducks Unlimited memberships is an effort to raise awareness of the critical work of the non-profit organization. Ducks Unlimited was founded in 1937 during the Dust Bowl to save the drought-stricken North American waterfowl population and has since conserved more than 15.5 million acres of critical waterfowl habitat. In 2022, the volunteer-based nonprofit organization protected and restored more than 575,000 acres of wetlands and associated habitat in the United States.

“For the past 86 years, Ducks Unlimited has focused on wetlands and waterfowl, and the results are amazing. We’ve lost 3 billion birds in North America, but waterfowl are the only bird species increasing in population, thanks to the support of hunters and Ducks Unlimited members who do so much to support that vision of filling the waterfowl skies today, tomorrow and forever,” said Adam Putnam, CEO of Ducks Unlimited.

“Whether it’s through habitat conservation, working with waterfowl biologists, or grassroots engagement with hunters across the country, Ducks Unlimited has made an invaluable contribution to North American waterfowl populations and the sport of waterfowl. waterfowl hunting,” Jones said. “By bringing this membership to our customers, we want them to experience the value of this organization and encourage them to get more involved, whether it’s renewing their membership, attending a banquet or volunteering on a project.”

The new products will be available July 13 at 10 am CT exclusively on CheneGear.com. The new collection includes:

  • Flyweight Primaloft Jacket ($400, images): A favorite among the Chêne staff and field test team, the Flyweigh Jacket is a high-performance outer layer. It provides added warmth for cold days and effectively regulates body temperature so hunters don’t have to remove it in the field when going on long blind walks, putting out lures, or hunting on chilly mornings that will eventually warm up.

This versatility is made possible by Primaloft’s 100% synthetic Silver Thermal Plume insulation with CrossCore technology, which provides superior insulation, body temperature regulation and comfort. The tough outer shell is water and wind resistant and protects against abrasion and punctures. Other features include a fully adjustable drawcord hood, vertical zippered chest pockets, side handwarmer pockets, form-fitting lycra sleeve cuffs, and a highly packable design for convenient storage. • Chêne Gear Wader ($1,100, images): Chêne’s signature wader is available in two patterns this year: the Mossy Oak Original Treestand and solid brown. Chêne believes that Original Treestand, a vintage pattern released over 30 years ago, is one of the best patterns ever created for timber hunting. Customers have long asked Chêne to launch his wader in solid brown, a versatile color that he pairs almost everywhere.

When Chêne launched its flagship wader in 2021, the brand was the first to design a waterfowl hunting wader constructed from breathable and waterproof nylon fabric, which is more resistant to punctures, tears and leaks compared to polyester. . The wader’s custom boot design, featuring an EVA midsole, provides all-day comfort and durability. The waders are backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Constructed with two layers of waxed canvas to protect from the elements, fold over flap closure, and metal hook and loops for secure storage.

ICAST Announces 37 “Best of Category” Winners in New Product Showcase for 2023

Prestigious industry awards highlight the best of the best in Orlando

Astronaut Mike Massimino wowed a sold-out State of the Industry breakfast with stories of space shuttle flights and interstellar telescope repairs as the recreational sport fishing industry’s largest trade show officially lifted off from the County Convention Center Orange on Wednesday.

“Mike Massimino was rejected by NASA three times before he became an astronaut,” said Jeff Schluter, vice president of sales and marketing for St. Croix Rods. “For our industry, it was an inspiring message to overcome obstacles and stick together to work as a team.”

Massimino’s inspiring stories of unity in space kicked off a countdown to one of the most anticipated events at the annual trade show hosted by the American Sport Fishing Association—ICAST Industry Awards Reception. After a packed day of activities on a show floor packed with thousands of retailers, members of the media and exhibitors, the votes for ICAST’s prestigious “Best of Category” awards were tallied. From a field of 1,087 new products representing 292 companies, 37 winners were crowned.

“Winning an award at ICAST puts a product on the map,” said Westin Director of Fisheries Operations Thomas Sonotra, who traveled from Denmark to attend the show and will fly back across the Atlantic as the winner. “Having exposure at a show like this really shows that his team has done something extraordinary. Many hours are spent behind each product, from field testing to making sure that what they design is super unique and capable of competing against the tough competition.”

This year’s New Product Showcase featured a wide variety of products ranging from bass boats to personal watercraft, cutting-edge tackle and innovative electronics. Now, after a full day of voting and analysis by an audience of peers, these category winners stand. On Thursday, Best of Category winners will go head-to-head to determine an overall ICAST 2023 Best of Show:
