CMP Acquires Surplus Ammunition, with Sale Plans in the Coming Months

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of surplus .30 Carbine, .22 Pistol, M2 Ball and .22 Long Rifle ammunition that will soon be available to CMP customers. Currently, the articles are in the cataloging and evaluation stage by the staff.

“CMP plans to make the ammunition available to our loyal constituents sometime this spring after the surplus ammunition goes through all of CMP’s processing procedures,” said Mark Johnson, CMP Director of Operations and Civilian Marksmanship. . “Purchase limits and restrictions will be established to ensure that CMP’s mission is well accomplished.”

The CMP intends to maintain a large enough surplus ammo inventory to support CMP matches for years to come and to provide discounted surplus ammo to competitors attending CMP events. All sales will include limits established to meet the guidelines specified in the Memorandum of Agreement between the Department of the Army and the CMP.

More details on surplus sales will be posted soon. Commercial ammunition sales are currently available on the CMP eStore for qualified individuals. Sign up for an account or browse the CMP eStore at https://estore.thecmp.org.
