Registration is now open for the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Three-Position Air Rifle Postal Championship. The annual nationwide competition is designed for youth athletes involved in 4-H, Scouts, American Legion, Club or JROTC precision air rifle and sports programs.
Shooting at the CMP Postal Championships not only promotes growth and experience in national-level competition, it also provides an opportunity to connect with like-minded people on the shooting range.
Participating athletes may choose to shoot at the CMP Postal Championship and/or their local CMP State Championship. During the Postal match, competitors are mailed targets to record shots in their practice areas in each of three positions: prone, standing, and kneeling. The targets are then sent to CMP headquarters for official scoring by staff members. State Championships are conducted by CMP State Directors or specially appointed Match Directors. Athletes are encouraged to compete in both the postal and state games.
This year’s postal competition will run until February 15, 2023. The CMP State Championships are open until February 1, 2023.
The highest scoring athletes will move on to the Regional Championships in Ohio, Alabama or Utah in April, with the culminating 2023 National Championships taking place at the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center in Camp Perry, Ohio June 22-24. (sporter), and July 10-12 (precision).
