David Cary, 75, of Jayess, passed away on September 27, 2022 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. David was born on November 15, 1946 in Newark, NJ, the son of Raymond and Mary Annette Lackey Cary.
A funeral service was held on October 1 at New Hope Baptist Church in Monticello, followed by graveside services in the church’s cemetery. Brother. Kevin Crozier officiated, with Wilson Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
David served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from Georgia-Pacific as an instrument and electronics technician after 43 years. David loved spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, reading books, listening to music, and practicing martial arts. David was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Monticello, where he served as a deacon. David especially loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife of 13 years, Stephanie Cary of Jayess; children, Scott Cary (Rhonda), of Petal; Todd Cary (Anastasia), from Tupelo; stepchildren, Jeffrey and Jakki Varnado (Amy), of Hattiesburg; grandchildren, Nicholas, Joshua, Tanner, Walker, Kiersten, Landry, Leif, Bode, and Quin; brothers, Raymond, Alan and Paul Cary; and sister, Christine Bolling.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judy Squirrel.
