Over the course of the next year, residents of the Manistee Area Public Schools district will see some changes to the district’s buildings. The first of the changes will begin in January 2003 when the new high school officially opens. That move to the new building will start a chain reaction of moves in the school system not seen since the current high school became operational in 1967.

strike ended
A strike at the Rademaker Chemical Corp. plant in Eastlake that began Saturday night ended last night with a unanimous vote by workers, and employees returned to their jobs today as mediation between their union and the corporation. Their decision to return to work was due to an appeal made to them by the State Board of Labor Mediation and also a representative of the 50th District United Mine Workers Association.
penny milk program
Under the penny milk program recently approved by school officials, Manistee public and parochial school children will have the opportunity to purchase a half pint of pasteurized milk daily for 1 cent per bottle. This milk will be delivered directly to the various school buildings by local dairies.
