IDNR Announces Late Summer Hunting Opportunities | Condition

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Department of Natural Resources announced late-summer hunting opportunities for 2022.

The following information is provided as a helpful reminder of the season deadlines, which begin in August and September:

* Squirrel: August 1, 2022 — February 15, 2023 (closed November 18-20 and December 1-4 in counties open to gun deer hunting); statewide with a daily limit of five and a total possession limit of 10.

* Dove (mourning and white wing): September 1 – November 14 and December 26 – January 9, 2023; statewide with a daily limit of 15 and a total possession limit of 45.

* Teal: from September 10 to 25, 2022; statewide with a daily limit of six and a total possession limit of 18.

* Train (Sora and Virginia only): From September 10 to November 18, 2022; statewide with a daily limit of 25 and a total possession limit of 75.

* Snipe: from September 10 to December 25, 2022; statewide with a daily limit of eight and a total possession limit of 24.

* Canada Geese (early season): September 1 – September 15, 2022; north and central zones with a daily limit of five and a total possession limit of 15; south central and south zones with a daily limit of two and a total possession limit of six.
