KASTKING INTRODUCES A NEW SMART REEL AT ICAST 2023

Intelligent iReel combines intelligent technology with industry leading casting performance

Modern low-profile baitcasting reels exhibit a variety of features and capabilities that weren’t around a decade ago. In another 10 years, it can be hard to recognize the newer class of casting reels, not by their looks, but by the intuitive user experience they offer. Offering a glimpse into the future, KastKing’s Bluetooth-equipped iReel represents a new category in smart freshwater fishing reels.

The most innovative piece of fishing gear anglers can use, iReel’s radical design initiatives incorporate modern materials and manufacturing technologies to achieve an unprecedented level of precision and casting control. Not one to sit idle, KastKing is poised to transform the way the baitcaster interacts with its angler.

Using Bluetooth to pair the iReel with your smartphone and the KastKing app, initial setup begins with entering line type, test, and diameter. On the water, iReel employs high-precision motion capture sensors in the reel assembly to provide anglers with accurate casting metrics, including number of casts made, average distance, furthest cast, retrieve speed and further. By providing real-time access to this valuable information, anglers can improve their understanding of the fishing environment, analyze their successes and failures, and make necessary adaptations based on prevailing conditions.

Technology is clearly changing the way we fish, and gone are the days of relying solely on manual adjustments and a trained thumb to avoid kickback: iReel features Intelligent Frequency Control (IFC) to evaluate casting variables such as reel speed, inertia and line tension. to optimize performance in real time, mitigating backlash and ensuring smooth, accurate casts regardless of wind speed or lure weight.

Braking is essential to the baitcasting experience, but not all braking systems are created equal. Unlike any bass reel ever developed, iReel integrates IFC microcontroller sensors within the frame and sideplate that analyze data from the reel and automatically apply or release a sophisticated electromagnetic braking system in a non-linear fashion.

Ushering in a new era of angling precision and efficiency, KastKing’s iReel enables professionals and weekend warriors alike to fish with confidence, especially when casting backlash-prone baits like crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and skips. docks and shallow decks with light fine baits.

During the forward cast, the momentum of the lure’s weight pulls the line off the spool at over 550 revolutions per second. With iReel’s precise control over the reel’s rotation speed, anglers can achieve higher line speed during casting. High speed translates into longer, more accurate casts, giving you a distinct advantage in hitting distant targets.

KastKing’s patented Axis Eye Line Guide is another innovative mechanism designed to improve castability by reducing friction as the line exits the spool. The uniquely shaped, movable Axis Eye line guide features a super-slick silicon nitride coating that offers excellent heat dissipation, allowing braided, monofilament and fluorocarbon lines to glide freely on the surface with minimal restriction.

Pressing the spool release button before a cast rotates the Axis Eye 90 degrees horizontally, presenting a very wide line-out opening and direct shooting from the spool and through the rod guides. Smooth, efficient delivery provides longer, consistently accurate casts. When the angler engages the handle, the Axis Eye returns to its locked position where it evenly distributes the line along the length of the reel during the retrieve.

KastKing’s advanced cold forging technologies provide the framework for consistent performance and impressive durability. iReel has no noticeable friction due to close tolerance machining of the main gear and 11+1 double sealed stainless steel bearings. With its sleek and stylish electroplated matte finish, iReel features a low-profile 41.5mm design for maximum in-hand comfort and control. This is especially important for those who palm their reel while moving jerkbaits or prefer to keep a finger in contact with the line when the lure falls into deep water. The aerospace aluminum frame provides extreme rigidity for efficient power transmission and incorporates a carbon fiber side cover to minimize weight. Surprisingly, being so packed with features with clever inner workings, iReel weighs just 180g. and it is a pleasure to hold all day.

The appearance of KastKing’s advanced electromagnetic braking system offers never-before-seen functionality that helps anglers build their confidence and skills at a rapid pace. By embracing new technologies and modernizing the angling experience, iReel aims to disrupt the baitcasting category by establishing innovative analytics to support experiential learning through quantitative data such as cast distance, line release speed, the speed of recovery, the number of casts made and the duration of a fishing trip.

As the KastKing smart fishing ecosystem continues to develop, anglers will soon be able to incorporate a host of exciting features using wearable technology ranging from Bluetooth watches to wireless headphones and FishIQ goggles with directional audio and enhanced AR elements that present data from the iReel to the fisherman in a hands-free format, which allows you to interact in a natural and intuitive way without losing focus on the environment.

In today’s rapidly changing world, technology can be found at the touch of our fingertip vials. With this comes comfort and enhanced performance, cascading down to the modern iReel-in-hand angler looking for an immersive experience to gain all the advantages technology can provide.
