Gary L. Heinold, age 81, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2022 with his wife by his side at Creasy Springs Legacy in Lafayette, IN. He was born on November 8, 1940 in LaCrosse, IN, the son of Charles and Ina Mae (Bruder) Heinold. He graduated from LaCrosse High School and then attended Purdue in Civil Engineering. He worked at Fauber Construction in Lafayette, IN for many years as an asphalt paving superintendent. One of his many accomplishments at Fauber’s was the layout and design of I-65 from Lafayette to Lebanon, IN. He later formed his own paving business, Heinold and Associates Construction, INC, where he paved many parking lots and private driveways. Gary was always a workaholic and winter didn’t stop him, he shoveled snow and also completed many home remodeling jobs. After retiring, he worked part-time for several years for the Town of Shadeland as a paving superintendent. Gary liked being outdoors, hunting, fishing, mushroom picking, gardening, landscaping, woodworking, driving his tractor, and chopping wood for the winter. He also loved feeding and watching the birds and squirrels in his backyard. Gary was an avid sports fan, including Nascar, football, and basketball. Gary loved his family and friends and they all loved Gary. He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Horn) Jones-Heinold of Pine Village and their three children, Charles (Donna) Heinold, Lebanon, IN, Dean (Mary) Heinold, Reading, MA, Jeremy (Darrah) Heinold, Greenville, SC , two stepdaughters, Jennifer (Alan) Gick, Fowler, IN and Amber (George) Liu of Bloomington, IL. Also surviving are his older brother, Clyde Heinold of Wanatah, IN, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Carol Zippel and Jean Singleton, and a grandson, Finn Liu. Services will be Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home in Oxford, IN. Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 11:00 am EST followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am EST, Pastor Linda Sproull officiating. Burial will be at Mound Cemetery, Pine Village, IN.
