Savage Arms is proud to announce the victory of Team Savage shooter Matt Alwine this past weekend in Cody, Wyoming. Located on Sheep Mountain, the NRL’s Hunter Series, “Gunwerks’ Sheep Mountain Shootout” took place June 9-11. It was here that Alwine took first place overall, and first in open light, in the NRL Hunter series match.
This particular venue put the hunters to the test by challenging them to extreme angles and shots from 160 to 1,110 yards, all while braving the area’s difficult wind and terrain conditions. Alwine claimed the top spots for Team Savage in the match by shooting 122 of 128, making this an impressive victory.
This first Sheep Mountain Shootout was held in a beautiful location in Wyoming, where the competition setting was open mountain terrain dotted with sagebrush and conifers. Wildlife native to this area includes: Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, Rocky Mountain elk, mule deer, antelope, black bear, wolves, coyotes, and prairie dogs. This new game proved to be attractive with beautiful views, numerous game animals, and challenging terrain.
Alwine of Team Savage took out the competition using a Savage 110 action and AccuTrigger. Other items on his equipment list include: an MDT HNT-26 “Mountain Forged Edition” chassis, a Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25 x 56mm scope, a No Warning Muzzle Break Tuner, a Proof Research barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor, and an MDT Cyke- scabbard bipod.
