The advantages of a good crop baler

Building food plots requires a considerable investment of time, money, and effort. However, land managers must take appropriate steps to maximize that investment; otherwise, it could be wasted. Site conditions, seed selection, and proper application of soil nutrients are important, but good germination rates will not be achieved without optimal seed-soil contact. Firminator’s built-in Cultipacker offers several advantages to ensure better germination rates and therefore a better return on investment.

Different soil conditions and seed selection require different treatments. With simple top link length adjustments, the Firminator’s lead pitch can be changed so the implement leans more or less over its blade assembly for deeper or shallower cuts. This also allows the cultipacker to roll on the ground with the extra weight of the frame transferred to it so it can be passed over the field to firm the seedbed before planting small seeds. A mid-range setting provides varying degrees of disc depth, while allowing the built-in cultipacker to maintain good soil contact and break up clods while leveling and firming the soil.

Unlike conventional single-application implements, the Firminator’s all-in-one configuration allows the soil to be firmed during the planting pass, so seed falls directly in front of the packer wheel, where it is pressed against the soil surface during a higher time. – and seed-soil contact that saves money.

The standard Firminator G3 and integrated cultipacker are suitable for most conditions. However, Ranew’s Outdoor Equipment also offers a professional grade Cultipacker upgrade. Its larger 16-inch wheels will roll easily over looser fine loamy or sandy soils that tend to flow up and over a smaller wheel. The larger wheels also add weight and surface area to allow the precision seeding system to work properly in all types of soil.

They also make a Heavy Duty Self Contained Cultipacker in a standard 6ft model with 9″ heavy duty cast iron cultipacker wheels, high speed greaseable bearings and category 1 and 2 hitch pins; and a professional model with upgraded 16-inch cast-iron cultipacker wheels to create the best possible seed-to-soil contact. Both models are built with the same heavy 3-inch square tubing as the Firminators frames and come in 6-, 8-, and 10-foot widths.
