Columbia, MO – Qualified coaches are an integral part of the expansion of youth shooting sports. For three years in a row, the MidwayUSA Foundation has provided cash grants to help train more youth shooting sports coaches. This year, 52 cash grants have been awarded for a total payment of $250,000. These grant funds will directly help state and regional youth shooting agencies train approximately 1,625 youth shooting sports coaches, which means that nearly 30,000 youth shooting athletes will benefit from this program. The Coaches Training Scholarship Program is another way the MidwayUSA Foundation is fulfilling its commitment to change the future of youth shooting sports.
Brian Beard, President of USA Youth Education in Shooting Sports (USA YESS), had this to say about the Coaches Training Scholarship Program. “The Foundation’s Train the Trainer Scholarship Program has been instrumental in allowing us to train and certify more trainers for our shooting teams. The coaches and volunteers in our programs have also been very appreciative of the grants. The more trained coaches we have, the faster youth shooting sports will grow! We are excited to be a part of this and we cannot thank the Foundation enough!” A complete list of Train the Trainer grant recipients can be found on the MidwayUSA Foundation website.
In addition to nearly 2,800 youth shooting team endowments, the MidwayUSA Foundation also funds nearly 80 state and national youth shooting sports organizations through agency and donor-designated endowments. These organizations, including SCTP, SASP, ATA, ACUI, NCSSAA, and more, are eligible for the Train the Trainer Grant Program. Youth shooting teams interested in certifying more coaches should contact their state, regional, or national organization.
