Sheridan, WY – May 31, 2023 marks a landmark event in Weatherby’s 78 year history, for the first time in over 50 years Weatherby will introduce a new center fire rifle action, the Model 307™. It features a tool-less detachable rifled bolt, a TriggerTech trigger, and a detachable magazine to name a few. “Looking back on our long history, each new rifle came with a purpose. My grandfather released the Mark V in 1958 and it quickly became known as the most powerful action in the world. The purpose was simple and clear. He wanted to develop an action that could house his high-powered magnum cartridges with a set of unique and distinctive features. As the years passed, it became apparent that there were many hunters and shooters who wanted a Weatherby but simply couldn’t afford the Mark V. So in 1971 the Vanguard was released with the purpose of providing the quality that people would expect from Weatherby while remaining affordable for a wide range of athletes. While both of these actions have been widely accepted over the years and used with great success, the design intent of the Model 307 is new and different for Weatherby. With more accessories available for a 700 platform than any other bolt-action rifle in the world, the goal of our third action was to create a design that could accommodate the wide offering of stocks, triggers, rails, mounts, magazines, etc. that exist on the market. While we keep in mind the importance of compatibility, we are also committed to keeping this rifle “Made in the USA.” with a feature set and price point that rivals anything out there, while maintaining the quality our customers would expect from a Weatherby.” -Adam Weatherby
The Model 307 will be housed in many of Weatherby’s historic Magnum cartridges, as well as some of the most popular cartridges on the market today.
