MidwayUSA Foundation Succeeds in 2022 and Announces 2023 Matching Program

Columbia, MO – The MidwayUSA Foundation is the leading advocate for youth shooting sports in our country and the public charity’s impact in 2022 set records in multiple categories. Supporting nearly 2,800 youth shooting teams and nearly 80 youth shooting sports organizations, including SCTP, SASP, ATA, USA Shooting, and USAYESS, through assigned endowment accounts, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization generated nearly $3.4 million in eligible match donations throughout the year.

MidwayUSA Foundation Executive Director G. Scott Reynolds spoke about the partnership that must take place to create this success. “While there is no replacement for the hard work of our Foundation staff, it is clear that we would achieve only a fraction of our goals without the generous support of our industry-leading sponsors, our charitable donors, and the time and effort of thousands of coaches, families and volunteers working to fund their endowment and make a difference in the lives of our youth.”

Highlights of 2022 include:

  • Received nearly $3.4 million in donations for youth shooting programs
  • More than $8.7 million in cash grants paid to youth shooting teams and organizations to help with expenses
  • Record Giving Tuesday, adding $475,749 to donations
  • Ongoing passionate sponsorship support from industry leading companies.
  • Multiple Foundation sponsored fundraising events held across the country
  • He introduced monthly auctions to benefit endowments, made possible by Foundation sponsors.
  • $1 million awarded to support rank development and coach training
  • Became an official partner of the NSSF +ONE Movement
  • Organized the first cross-industry National Youth Shooting Sports Conference

Donations to an endowment increase a program’s annual cash grant. However, the expenses still far exceed the funds provided through a grant from the MidwayUSA Foundation, which is what makes supporting the industry so important. Sponsors may provide cash and/or products to supplement endowment funds. Many of the products currently donated by industry leaders are used in the MidwayUSA Foundation’s product grant program. Teams and organizations receive free items and hold community fundraisers. Some proceeds are donated to increase his endowment, which is matched by the Foundation, and additional funds are kept local to help with immediate expenses. This unique program would not be possible without sponsors, and participating companies receive brand exposure.

All 2023 donations to team endowments will receive a 1:1 match. Additionally, 100% of any tax-deductible donation will directly benefit the donor’s chosen team. This is all made possible by the personal donations of Larry and Brenda Potterfield, who demonstrate their passion for supporting the growth and long-term funding of youth shooting sports.

The MidwayUSA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that works to maintain and grow youth shooting sports by providing long-term funding to youth shooting teams.
