The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources continues its series of webinars on hunting, fishing, and learning the great outdoors through the end of February. The webinars, which are free, begin Wednesdays at noon and require advance registration at mndnr.gov. Webinars are also recorded and available online. Upcoming webinars are as follows:
- December 1st: Great gift ideas for outdoor enthusiasts, like snuggling up in a RV cabin, being a member of the passport club, or a lifetime of fun hunting or fishing.
- December 8: Ice safety for outdoor sports such as skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling.
- December 15: Fly tying, about the basics of fly tying, the equipment needed, and how to tie a simple fly.
- December 22th: Learning to Hunt as an Adult, for any adult interested in hunting but not sure where to start, and resources for new adult hunters and tips and tricks for getting out into the woods and fields.
- December 29: An introduction to trapping furriers, what it takes to start trapping, and some tips and tricks to be more successful.
- January 5: High School Clay Target Program, about the Minnesota Clay Target Program, including how to register a school program and details on competitions.
- 12th of January: Ice angling for panfish, on tips and techniques for catching sunfish, crappie and perch on ice.
- January 19: Darkhouse release, about the thrill of traversing a hole in the ice with northern pike.
- 26 of January: Winter Squirrel Hunting on what to consider when hunting squirrels in winter, including tactics, strategies, equipment, and ways to prepare squirrels for the table.
- February 9: An introduction to winter camping, about some of the equipment needed, tips and tricks to help campers enjoy the adventure, and some reasons why winter may be the best time to camp.
- February 16th: An introduction to maple syrup, on tips for collecting sap, boiling the sap, and bottling the results.
- 23 of February: Bowhunting basics with a bow, on selecting a hunting compound bow and the bow accessories needed to hunt effectively; a great program for those who are ready to transition from target archery to bowhunting.
