Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) is pleased to introduce the Ruger Precision® rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor as the latest addition to the Ruger Custom Shop® line of firearms. Designed in collaboration with Ruger team captain Doug Koenig, this new model builds on the already competitive Ruger Precision Rifle to deliver a factory-built firearm designed specifically for long-range competition.
The new Custom Shop Ruger Precision Rifle features a factory-installed TriggerTech trigger with Frictionless Release Technology™, which provides an exceptionally crisp break, minimized overtravel, and an extremely short, tactile reset. A unique barrier stop is installed on the front of the magazine to enhance shooter positional support during competition by providing a stable and repeatable shooting position. Internally, the rifle features an improved firing pin tip geometry that improves functionality with a wide variety of primers while allowing the force required to manipulate the bolt to be decreased.
The highly accurate, contour-heavy free-float barrel (.850″ at the muzzle) of this rifle is cold-hammer-forged from chrome-moly stainless steel and features 5R rifling for minimal bullet alteration. Minimal hole and slot dimensions (measured by air for process control) and a centralized chamber provide outstanding accuracy, longevity, and ease of cleaning. The barrel features a 1:7.5″ twist ratio, 5/8″-24 threaded muzzle and APA (.264 caliber) muzzle brake to effectively reduce recoil, aiding shot sighting for follow-up Quick.
The stainless steel barrel is surrounded by a free-floating, hard-coat anodized aluminum handguard that features M-LOK® slots on all four sides to improve clearance for long-range scopes and ease the mounting of M-compatible rails and accessories. -LOK. The handguard is flat bottomed for stability and incorporates an integral 1.50″ dovetail on the bottom, making the pistol compatible with RRS SOAR and similar QD systems.
With its ability to accept AR-style grips and stocks, the rifle incorporates a Magpul® MOE® K2+ grip to provide a more vertical grip angle in a full-size design. Some parts of the rifle have a durable Cerakote® finish to improve wear resistance. This model ships with two Magpul PMAG® magazines and a Sorbothane® cheek pad that provides a comfortable and stable weld between the cheek and the stock for fast target acquisition.
The value proposition of the Ruger Custom Shop Sniper Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor is unmatched. With top-notch accuracy, adjustable ergonomics, and the rugged reliability and affordability Ruger is famous for, this new offering provides a competition-ready long-range rifle straight from the Ruger factory.
