Endurance athlete Nikolas Toocheck, who holds the record for being the youngest person to run a marathon on all seven continents (including Antarctica) at just 12 years old, and who ran a marathon in all 50 states at the age of 14 , is now on track to climb the seven volcanic peaks of the world. This week, Toocheck reached his first summit after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa.
Nik Climbs the World is Nik Toocheck’s third philanthropic campaign to help children in need. In previous efforts, he has raised more than $50,000 for Operation Warm, a national nonprofit organization that sells new winter coats and athletic shoes to children in need. Now, Nik continues his fundraising efforts by climbing all seven of the world’s volcanic peaks to raise another $50,000 in support of the organization.
“I realized at a young age that you don’t have to be big to make a positive difference in the world. I carry that with me today,” Toocheck said of his efforts. “I’m grateful to have the opportunities I have to help children in underserved communities, and it’s a great feeling to help others while doing something I love.”
In support of the effort, GoPro for a Cause has provided GoPro cameras and other GoPro products to help Toocheck scale and help raise awareness of the Operation Warm mission. Toocheck’s next climb is scheduled for March 2023 in the Picos de Orizaba in Mexico.
